When you buy a used honker equipped with hardtop-assembled sliding windows, there is a good chance that their seals and the frame itself will be past their best days.

In these instructions, I will describe how to disassemble the windows, then take them apart and then assemble them on new or refurbished parts. The description applies to hardtop windows of the latest type, i.e. from 2000 honkers.
- Removing the window from the hardtop.
To do this, we need to push the seal holding the window outward. The seals do not have wedges.
2. demolition of windows.
In order to take the window apart, we must first loosen the stationary pane (that's the one with the black strip on the edge). To do this, we need to ream out one rivet, with which is attached the plate coming out of the metal strip put on the glass (this plate is located only at the bottom of the window).
Once we have both panes loose, we move them once to one side and then to the other and pull out the gasket on which the panes move. sometimes the gasket is glued in and you have to work hard to pull it out. At the same time you can afford to tear it, because we will assemble the window already on the new gasket.
At the very end, both panes of glass should be pulled out of the frame. To do this, help yourself a little by expanding the frame in your hands.

3 Regeneration of frames and purchase of new components.
The dismantled frames, depending on their condition, can be cleaned and painted by hand or sent for sandblasting and powder coating (I took this option).

It is absolutely necessary to replace the gasket on which the glass slides. You can get the gasket in different stores, at different prices. It can be purchased in many stores by the meter. It comes under the name SF7. The cheapest I was able to get it in the store http://uszczelkigumowe.com/ at 10zl gross per meter.

In my case, unfortunately, and the windshields were very scratched and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer of these windshields is GLASPO, and I bought them without any problems and at an affordable price at the Auto-Adler store in Lublin.

4 Preparation for submission.
In the first step, we cut the gasket to length (for this, try it on yourself first).
After cutting, make notches on the gasket at its "corners" and cut elongated holes on the lower plane to ensure free drainage.

If you buy new windshields, you need to put the metal strip from the old ones over the edge of one of the windshields (the one that will be stationary, so there is no hole for the latch).
5. window folding
When we have everything ready we proceed to assembly.

The first step is to insert the glazing into the frame, slightly expanding it with feeling. The next step is to slide the gasket between the frame and the windows inserted into it. To make the operation easier, it is a good idea to first spray silicone oil on the gasket.
The last item is to re-lock one of the panes. It's a good idea to thoroughly wash both panes before doing so, especially where they overlap and where, once locked, we will never have free access again.
To lock the glass, it must be riveted in the designated place.
6. installation of the window in the hardtop

Install the window using the original gasket.
