Honkers have been in production for nearly 30 years. Although visually they have not changed much, these cars have been modernized over the last three decades. So it is worth knowing that honkers from the last years of production (Honkers 2000 in various varieties) already have completely different technical solutions applied in relation to cars from the early years of production. Engines, reducers, bridges, transmissions, braking system, power steering system, etc. etc. are different, so practically all mechanics.
A very big change occurred between honkers 4012 (years 89-96) and 2324 (years 97-2000), that is, after the transfer of production from Poznan to Lublin. And although visually the car looks very similar because the body has not changed (the main change is a one-piece hardtop made of better plastic, but without opening windows), there is already a large technological gap between these cars. The main changes are: bridges (hypoid bridges appeared, which are much more durable), disc brakes appeared on the front axle, power steering, the Gniezno reducer was modernized (it is much quieter), an anorii engine was used, and a Tczew TS5-21 gearbox was used. Unfortunately, honkers 2324, although much better technically, have inferior sheet metal quality than the Poznan 4012.
Due to numerous questions, we would also like to inform you that honkers (albeit with problems) are still being produced to date - mainly small series for the Polish Army and to countries outside the EU, e.g. Nigeria(as of February 2017).

Honker Lynx

Manufacturer : 1 District Technical Workshop in Grudziadz
Years of production: early 1990s.
The body is based on a Tarpan Honker manufactured by FSR.
There is information on the Internet that this version was produced only during the daewoo era (from 1996), which we have established is not true. One of our colleagues purchased such an "ex-Rys" from 1991 at AMW. Unfortunately, it was a copy already converted to a standard honker, and all solutions such as the turntable or the spare wheel holder on the hood were not preserved. However, the car still had a number of other solutions and modifications characteristic of the "Lynx", thanks to which it was possible to identify it.
Additional information found at: militaryrok.co.uk:
The kerb weight has increased to 2340 kg, and the payload has dropped to 640 kg.
Crew - 10 soldiers. Mounted - the base of a 12.7 mm wz. 38/45 tank wkm (DSzK). The vehicle was unarmored.
The vehicle was approved under the condition of not exceeding a gross vehicle weight of 3,000 kg. The reason was the low efficiency of the braking system.

It is interesting to note that almost all honkers in camouflage colors have the same arrangement of stains (only the shades of each color differ, with newer versions replacing the brown color with sand).

MAT-10 CT - Mobile Transmission Apparatus Station (prototype)

Manufacturer and years of production:
- Vocational Training Institute (ZDZ) in Krakow - 2008.
According to information found in MSPO e-Report 3/2008:
The MAT-10 CTs were to be delivered to the army in 2009, with an order of 4 exemplars at stake, and a target number of 2 to 3 times that number. In addition to being of interest to Polish contingents abroad, the system can be used domestically, including for emergency communications.
We have no knowledge of whether such vehicles were actually produced in greater numbers, but there is no indication of this.
System Description:
The apparatus room operates using the phenomenon of electromagnetic waves reflecting off the troposphere. This allows it to be used in situations where terrain obstacles prevent direct communication. Such as in Afghanistan, where there are some problems with the use of classical means when providing communications between remote PKW facilities.
The system provides a communication range of 40 to 250 km. It integrates R 450 A, BT and C radio beacons (the latter provides the ability to conduct correspondence on the move), the ZZO 12 Optical Termination Unit, the TK 100 Transcriber and the Switching and Switching Station. This allows the MAT-10 CT to act as a small subscriber node. A COS 2.8RM antenna is carried on a special trailer.

Honker M-AX

The M-AX honker is a proposal presented at the 2018 MSPO to modernize military honkers. The changes are so far-reaching that even the frame is completely different from the serial honker. After the modernization, all that remains of the delivered honker is a refurbished body and... documents 😉
Honker M-AX is not being sold as a new vehicle but is purely a retrofit offering, as is the case with the Star 266 that has been refurbished by the same company for years.
Engine:
- Iveco F1C 146-170hp
Manufacturer and years of production:
- AUTOBOX Starachowice - 2018.
